Teamwork – everything I do involves working with others! Being a good team player means you work hard, treat others with respect, keep an open mind, and communicate clearly.

To be able to communicate effectively with a team around you, so that you can learn and share knowledge!

I agree with the other answers. Teamwork is a very important skill for an engineer. There are very few tasks or jobs that don’t require help from other people. All projects require a team and input from different people. Other skills like logical reasoning, creative thinking and problem solving and also really useful.

I agree with the comments below and I would add.
Engineers should be curious (how do things work) and creative (how can this be made better) and committed (keep going unit you have solved it)!

Ability to step back and ask ‘Why?’ and ‘What?’ – what we want to achieve? why we doing this? why it does not work? etc.
And then another important skill is ability to gather and process information.

I think always being curious and not afraid to ask questions is really important. It really helps with your learning, but also others learning and the sharing of knowledge.

Quite hard to answer and I wouldn’t disagree with other people’s answers. I’d add that having an enquiring mind is often key e.g. If someone states something as a ‘fact’, do they really have hard evidence to back it up? Is that evidence applicable to the current situation?

I agree with all other answers, but just to add something different – the ability to put engineering in perspective of sustainability, how will a new solution benefit people and environment, are there any downsides?
